Role Overview

As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with varying needs within our homes. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality care, promoting their well-being, and helping them develop essential life skills. This rewarding role requires compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care and support to children living in the residential home in line with their individual care plans.
• Ensure the safety and welfare of children by maintaining a secure and supportive environment.
• Build positive relationships with children, encouraging trust and promoting their emotional well-being.
• Support children with education, social activities, and personal development to help them achieve their goals.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, and families to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s care.
• Maintain accurate and timely records, including daily reports, incident logs, and care plans.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision to continually develop your skills and knowledge.
• Promote a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusion within the home.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience in residential childcare, social care, or a related health and social care setting is desirable.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential childcare (Children and Young People) or equivalent qualification preferred or the absolute willingless to complete this qualification.
• Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection legislation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and colleagues alike.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is essential.
